December -> February

Hello, and welcome to the first blog post on here of 2025!

Over the past couple of months, I’ve shot two rolls of film: one 120 roll of Portra 400 and one 35mm roll of Cinestill 800T.

I think my Medium Format work, which will be the first set of photos in this post, retains a similar style to what I’ve been developing for a while here - particularly the photos shot in Bristol. There are also a few photos from Edinburgh, some beach in Fife, and Falmouth in there too. While I’m not sure Falmouth really counts as a beach-resort-town-in-decline like Bognor Regis for this idea of a future long-term project, I think it added a bit more inspiration to some of the ideas for it. If you’re curious, I’ve now made a list of all the towns I’m hoping to visit for that project, and hopefully I’ll be able to kick it off a bit this spring with trips to Weston-super-Mare and a return to Bognor.

Anyway, lots of spraff. I’m not really a huge fan of many of these pictures, but good to keep the cogs turning.

I’ve only done it a couple of times, but I quite like getting a roll of Cinestill in during the winter. There’s a lot less time to go out while the sun’s up, so I like to make the most of the night scenes.

As always, here are my favourites:

Hopefully get a fun black and white post next time. I’ve got a roll in a camera that’s like halfway through and not been touched in nearly two years, and I’ve finally got the urge to finish it. Meanwhile, also got some B&W going in the medium format. So keep an eye out for that!

If you haven’t already, I always encourage signing up for the mailing list. You don’t get any perks or anything, but I just find it a bit of a nicer way to engage.
