It’s been a few months
Hello all!
It’s been a wee while since my last post on here, certainly longer than I’d have hoped, but I am back.
Despite this pretty slow turnaround, I feel like I have actually been out taking photos quite a lot during that time. That said, weather and shortening days has limited both when I can go and shoot and which photos are worth taking when I’m out. I also reckon that shooting medium format means that I’m more picky about what I’ll actually take so I’ll usually get only max 3 or 4 photos per walk, even if I have more planned in advance than that.
I’m feeling positive though, I reckon I have a good consistency to the kind of style and tone of the stuff I’m taking, which I hope I can expand on as I keep going.
If anyone is interested in the specs, these were all shot on my Fuji GA645Zi on Portra 400, which is my usual these days.
While the first roll is all Bristol photos, basically all taken within a half hour walk of my flat, we go a little further afield on roll 2. 2 photos were taken in London and a few come from Bognor Regis (the rest are bris). I don’t particularly love the Bognor Regis photos themselves, but I think that they could lead to some inspiration for a pretty ambitious, long-term project about England’s resort/beach towns. I’m imagining trips to Scarborough and Margate etc. Things are formulating in my head anyway. May not lead to anything.
Annoyingly, there were a couple of times on this roll where I missed focus, which hasn’t happened for me with this camera for about 2 years so I’d kind of forgotten it could be a thing. I imagine it was as a result of trying to take the photos too quickly.
As some overall reflection, I think the first roll is a bit stronger than the second, which has some relatively dull shots on it. I’m gonna go ahead and blame the weather for not helping me out there, though I’m still pretty happy with how both rolls came out.

The next gap will not be so long! I’m a chunk of my way into a roll each of 35mm and 120. I’ve also gone back and scanned a load of old photos for some nostalgia I’m planning to share soon.
